HIS EXCELLENY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
The Governor-General in Council, in virtue of the provi- sional sub-section 3 of section 3 of the Steamboat Inspection Act of 1898, as amended by sub-section 3 of section 1 of chapter 66 of the Statutes of 1903, is pleased to order and doth order that the Order in Council of 27th January, 1898, imposing, with certain exemptions, the provisions of the Canadian Steamboat Inspection Act on steamboats registered elsewhere than in Canada, but carrying passengers to and from Canada, be repealed and the following substituted therefor, namely:-
That the Steamboat Inspection Act, and the amendments thereto, together with the Canadian rules and regulations relat- ing to the inspection of steamboats be applied to passenger steamboats, other than steamboats holding passenger certificates from His Majesty's Board of Trade, registered elsewhere than in Canada, engaged in carrying passengers from one port or place in Canada to another port or place in Canada, or on any of the lakes, rivers or coasts of Canada, or engaged in carrying passengers from any port or place in Canada to any port or place out of Canada, or from any port orplace out of Canada to any port or place in Canada; provided, however, that the provisions of the said Act and the amendments there to which require Cana- dian passenger steamboats to carry Canadian certificated engineers, be not applied, when such steamboats have engineers in charge holding appropriate certificate issued by the authori- ties of the country in which they are registered, or other engineers' certificate valid in Canada, for the position in which they employed, and that the Canadian rules and regula- tions relating to the inspection of boilers while in course of construction, be not applied, and that the boilers of such
